Maintenance Cost Insights provides a view of maintenance spending, with an integration to IBM Apptio. IBM describes insight information returning to Manage for its operational dashboard.

A spending comparison needs a consistent period, currency and allocation basis. A large total is not itself an explanation of poor reliability.

02 · Configuration — Work through the setup

2. List its source maintenance transactions and calculate their total.
3. Review the documented integration mapping and refresh process.
4. Open the corresponding insight and compare totals and dimensions.
5. Investigate one deliberate mapping or timing difference before comparing assets.

03 · Practical example

Fictional teaching example

A teaching dataset has $400 labor, $250 material and $100 service costs: $750 in total. A dashboard reporting $650 requires an explanation such as a missing service transaction or different period.

04 · Practice and verify

Reconcile a small source ledger to the displayed result and record any excluded or late transactions.

Expected result

Totals reconcile or each difference has a documented cause and owner.
