Connector for SAP Applications
Define system ownership and a purchasing transaction before configuring interfaces.
Before you start
MAS learning path. Match the component documentation to your installed release and maintenance build before configuring it.
- Compatible SAP and Manage training environments with the connector configured.
- An agreed system-of-record matrix for vendors, items, purchasing and finance.

01 · Basics — Understand the building blocks
The SAP connector provides documented integration touch points. Select the business flows you need and check the middleware and SAP release supported by your connector build.
Message delivery, business acceptance and financial reconciliation are different outcomes. Keep the business document key through each boundary.
Topics in this series
- Ownership and touch points
- Organization and master data mapping
- Purchasing flow
- Error correction and replay
- Reconciliation
02 · Configuration — Work through the setup
Use a training environment and match the actions to the IBM guide for your installed build.
- Choose a documented purchasing flow and identify which system owns each document and status.
- Map organizational identifiers, currencies, units, item and vendor keys.
- Configure the selected integration point using the matching connector guide and supported middleware.
- Send a single training transaction and read the resulting business document in the receiving system.
- Replay the same business transaction and then send an invalid reference; inspect the duplicate/error handling and correction path.
03 · Practical example
Fictional teaching example
A fictional purchase line uses ten units in Manage. If SAP uses a pack of five, the agreed conversion must preserve quantity and value; a technically delivered message can still be wrong.
04 · Practice and verify
Trace one purchase document and its acknowledgment using a shared correlation and business key.
Expected result
Both systems agree on document identity, quantity, value and state; rejected messages can be corrected without unintended duplicate posting.
Common mistakes
- Assuming transport success means the document was posted.
- Copying middleware instructions from an incompatible connector release.
05 · Advanced concepts
Add cancellations, partial receipts, reversals and recovery after downtime. Reconcile business documents, not just queue counts.
