Maximo Transportation

Use fleet condition, meters and warranty context to plan maintenance.

Before you start

MAS learning path. Match the component documentation to your installed release and maintenance build before configuring it.

  • Transportation installed and a fictional fleet asset.
  • Training meter values, a service requirement and sample warranty terms.

01 · Basics — Understand the building blocks

Transportation extends fleet asset management with capabilities including meter history, campaigns and warranty recovery. An operational event can have maintenance, availability and commercial consequences.

An odometer reading and a replaced meter's displayed value are not automatically the same as the vehicle's lifetime use. Preserve the history needed to interpret them.

Topics in this series

  • Fleet asset model
  • Meters and maintenance
  • Repair history
  • Warranty recovery
  • Campaigns and fleet exceptions

02 · Configuration — Work through the setup

Use a training environment and match the actions to the IBM guide for your installed build.

  1. Inspect the vehicle's meter definitions, reading history and component records.
  2. Enter a valid training reading through the supported application.
  3. Trace its effect on the applicable maintenance planning process.
  4. Record a repair and inspect whether the training warranty terms make it a recovery candidate.
  5. Compare the repair cost, any proposed recovery and the evidence supporting the claim.

03 · Practical example

Fictional teaching example

A fictional bus has a failed component that may be under warranty. Repairing it restores operation; documenting eligibility and following recovery remains a separate commercial process.

04 · Practice and verify

Create a vehicle history sheet with meter, service event, repair, warranty decision and supporting dates.

Expected result

The maintenance trigger is explainable from the meter history, and the warranty decision is grounded in the sample terms.

Common mistakes

  • Overwriting lifetime history after meter replacement.
  • Assuming every repair within a date range is recoverable.

05 · Advanced concepts

Explore campaigns, component positions, consists or motor-pool processes according to the fleet type. Test a changed meter and a rejected warranty case.
